This beautiful silver bronze medal depicts St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, an important figure in Catholicism and famous for her visions of the Sacred Heart in the 17th century. She is kneeling in an attitude of profound prayer and devotion, hands clasped, gazing fervently at Jesus Christ.
Jesus is standing on a clouding front of an altar, revealing his radiant Sacred Heart, a sign of his infinite love for humanity.
The altar represents the site of the Eucharistic sacrifice, a central theme in Marguerite-Marie's mystical visions. The saint's kneeling position and raised gaze express profound humility and total trust in divine love.
The reverse of the medal features a profile portrait of Pope Benedict XV, whose pontificate lasted from 1914 to 1922.
The Latin inscription around his effigy reads:
"BENEDICTUS XV PONT. MAX." (Benedict XV, Supreme Pontiff), the pope's honorary title.
