French Porcelain Kerosene Lamp Dog
French Porcelain Kerosene Lamp Dog
This 19th century oil lamp is a charming and original piece, made of porcelain and distinguished by its detailed depiction of a dog. Porcelain, known for its delicacy and brilliance, lends the object a precious, refined quality. The lamp is sculpted to represent a dog in relief, giving it a lively, expressive appearance.
Particularly remarkable are the dog's eyes, made of glass sulfide, a handcrafted technique that adds a touch of realism and sparkle. These glass eyes catch the light in a unique way, giving the impression that the dog is carefully observing its surroundings.
The handle, used to carry the lamp, has a small chip on the top, a discreet sign of the wear of time. This small flaw in no way detracts from the beauty of the object, but it is important to note for collectors.
Originally, the lamp was fitted with a wick, now missing, which would have been inserted into the metal burner at the top of the lamp. This lack does not compromise the structural integrity of the lamp, but it does limit its functional use to decorative purposes only.
This oil lamp is a unique piece, combining the elegance of porcelain with a charming figurative design. Despite some imperfections due to its age, it remains a fine example of 19th-century craftsmanship, perfect for lovers of antique decoration or collectors of porcelain objects.
Condition : The wick is missing from the lamp and there is a small chip above the handle.
Please take a close look at the photos, they are an integral part of the description. It is in good antique condition with some signs of ages.
