Architectural Walnut Wood Stairwell Finial
Architectural Walnut Wood Stairwell Finial
French Antique Architectural Walnut Wood Stairwell Finial, Turned Wood Staircase Newel Post Cap Finial, Home Renovation DIY
This staircase finial, dating from the 19th century, is an exceptional piece of walnut wood, meticulously carved and turned by hand. Walnut, a noble and durable wood, is prized for its smooth texture and warm hue, varying from light to deep brown with rich, subtle veins.
The ball, probably originally placed at the top of a staircase post, displays remarkable craftsmanship. Its turned surface features perfectly symmetrical curves, testifying to the skill of the carpenter who shaped it.
The natural patina of the wood, acquired over decades, gives the ball a richness of character. Some traces of wear, light scratches and ageing marks may be present, attesting to its authenticity and history. However, these elements only add to its charm, making it a unique piece that embodies the craftsmanship and refined taste of the 19th century. This carved walnut staircase ball is not only a testament to our artisan heritage, but also a highly prized decorative object.
Condition : It is in good antique condition with some normal traces of ages and an antique patina.
