Beautiful antique French religious and commemorative medal dedicated to Joan of Arc (Jeanne d’Arc), crafted in gold-tone metal and featuring an elegant quatrefoil shape.
The front depicts Joan of Arc standing in armour, holding her sword against her body, with a small kneeling figure at her feet. The surrounding French inscription reads:
“BIENHEUREUSE JEANNE D’ARC PRIEZ POUR NOUS”
(Blessed Joan of Arc, pray for us)
The date 1909 appears below the figure. This is particularly significant as Joan of Arc was beatified in 1909.
The reverse features the coat of arms of the city of Orléans, surrounded by the names “ORLÉANS – DOMREMY – ROUEN”, three places closely associated with Joan of Arc’s life and history. The dates 1429–1431 appear at the bottom.
A charming early 20th-century French medal with finely struck details and an attractive warm gold-tone finish. It shows light signs of age consistent with an antique devotional piece.
