Beautiful antique vermeil photo locket (gold-plated silver) dating from the Art Nouveau period, circa 1900.
This delicate circular pendant features a particularly charming design. The entire frame is surrounded by a finely detailed wreath of raised flowers and leaves, creating an elegant and romantic border around the glass. Its naturalistic floral decoration is characteristic of the Art Nouveau taste of the period.
The center retains its slightly domed antique glass, originally intended to protect a small photograph, miniature portrait or personal keepsake.
The reverse retains its removable metal backing plate, secured by small tabs, allowing access to the photograph compartment. The traditional antique construction can be clearly seen in the photographs.
The piece bears several hallmarks, including marks on the back plate and along the side of the setting, as well as a maker's mark. Because of their extremely small size, I prefer not to attribute the maker without a clearer close-up of the hallmark.
The locket remains in good antique condition, showing a lovely aged patina and minor signs of wear consistent with its age. Please note a small chip to the lower edge of the glass, visible in the photographs. It is discreet and does not detract from the overall beauty of the piece.
