A beautiful pair of antique French Art Nouveau cufflinks, most likely dating from the early 20th century, circa 1900-1910.
Each round button features a delicate openwork botanical design of flowing leaves and small berries, most likely representing mistletoe, a wonderful motif characteristic of the Art Nouveau period.
Mistletoe was a popular decorative motif during this era and was traditionally associated with good luck, happiness and prosperity.
Made of gold-plated metal, the cufflinks retain a lovely warm golden finish. The finely worked relief and openwork construction create an elegant and particularly delicate appearance.
Two small hallmarks or maker's marks can be seen on the fittings. Unfortunately, they are too difficult to read to allow a reliable identification, so no maker attribution is being made.
They remain in very good antique condition, showing only minor signs of age and previous use.
